AGNIHOTRA
TOUR 2000 |
|
|
During the
month of July and August a month-long "Agnihotra tour" was
arranged by Shreekantji. The group consisted of his wife Mala, Mr. S.K.
Kulkarni, Col. Madan Deshpande (both dedicated Agnihotra volunteers who
have authored many books on Five fold path) & about 5 - 6 others. This
tour covered many bigger cities like Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Pune, Nashik,
Ahamednagar & Aurangabad. In these towns
Agnihotra exhibitions and demonstrations were arranged.

practice of Agnihotra to people in a Program in Ahamednagar (Maharashtra

The
programs were advertised on local T.V cable networks and Newspapers.
Agnihotra families of these towns had taken initiative in arranging these
programs. Each de-monstration was usually attended by 500 to 700 people. In
many towns the local Agnihotris came with there own Agnihotra kits and
pyramids and then all of them together with new visitors performed
Agnihotra. The sight, when pure flame of
Agni burnt in 300 pots
ar-ranged neatly in rows, and the peaceful sound of mantra vibrations
filled the serene atmosphere was a great. |

Shreekantji
explained the process and practice of Agnihotra. He explained with details
the research being conducted on it along with many people's personal
experiences. The meeting conducted at Ahemadnagar was covered by Zee T.V.
network which is India's countrywide T.V
channel. They ran a detailed news item on Agnihotra. In the interview
Shreekantji said " Agnihotra is not a new cult or group or an out
dated ritual. It is not invented by somebody recently. It is not a new
fad. It is ordained by the Vedas which are eternal.

Agnihotra
in the present scientific, and universal form was reiterated by Param
Sadguru Shree Gajanan Maharaj. Agnihotra is a useful adjunct in ecological
farming practices whereby farmers are making efforts to grow pure and
healthy food. Agnihotra has been successfully used in drug and alcohol
de-addiction programs as well as in rehabilitation centers for old people
& Juvenile criminals. Its positive effects are being recorded.
Agnihotra is a simple discipline based on subtle scientific principles." |
|
Another
aspect of the tour was visits to Agnimandirs
(House of Fire) in Dehu, Nashik, Ahemadnagar, Aurangabad &
Deolali-Prawara. There are several others in the state. An Agnimandir is a
place of the Almighty where the pyramid shaped Agnihotra Pot is placed as
an altar. Morning and evening Agnihotra is performed in a separate pot
regularly. Strict silence is maintained in the room. Apart from the
Agnihotra Mantras not a word is uttered inside the room. There is a
separate room for performing other Yajnyas. There are no priests, nor any
idols in a Fire Temple. The Agnimandirs are open to all

irrespective
of any
distinctions like religion, sex etc. Some of the Agnimandirs like
the ones in Aurangabad and Nashik are more than 2 decades old. These have
been propounded & established by the blessings of Param Sadguru Shree
Gajanan Maharaj and are a symbol of the Vedic Five fold Path of Yajnya,
Daan, Tapa, Karma & Swadhayay. Many meetings were arranged in the
entire Ahema- dnagar district in small villages. Turn out of people in
these towns was fantastic as thousands gathered to understand the process
of Agnihotra. These were very poor, illiterate farmers. It was great joy
to see Agnihotra even in the huts.
-In
all the tour was a journey in to Joy and Bliss. |
