In the month of Dec.2000 during 10th to 25th we
are arranging an Ayur-vedic Healing Panchakarma Retreat at Shivapuri.
Ayurveda literally means ' Science of life .' It is the ancient most
natural healing system, regarded as ' revealed knowledge '. Ayurveda
originated as the integral part of the spiritual science of Vedas, which
give a com-prehensive insight in to the nature of the universe.
AYURVEDA is the fountain head of various branches of wholistic healing
sciences such as dietics, yoga, naturopathy, prinvciple of healthy
living, hydrotherapy, herbal prepartion and social and preventive medecine
etc..
It has profound ' wholistic 'approach to human health. It recognises the
deep-rooted relation between human body and mind in the process of origin
and disappearance of disease. It clearly states that a positive and strong
mind can play a vital role in healing a physical disease and at the same
time a mere sick mind can give rise to physical ailments.
AYURVEDIC healers have an extensive knowledge of the healing powers of
thousands of herbs whose origin they feel divine. They were aware of the
fact that even herbs have emotions. This is the reason why the herbs are
respected, loved and preserved. The relation between the healing efficacy
of the sap of herbs and the phases of moon was noted by the
Ayurvedic-Healers.

WHOLISTIC HEALING SCIENCES (S.I.A.W.H.S)
We respect the spirituality and purity behind the Vedic science of
maintaining the equlibrium of man and ecocycles known as Ayurveda. Our
tiny unit which provides Ayurvedic diagnostic and classical panchkarma
facilities is located in the precincts of the Shivapuri Ashram from where
the eternal principles of Veda : in the form of five fold path, are
universally propagated. Shivapuri Institute Of Ayurveda and
wholistic healing sciences is closely associated witht the nonprofit
rural Ayurvedic medical help activity of the Ahram from where free
Ayurvedic diagnostic and clinical facilities ar erendered to
thousands of people of the villages. Many patients suffering from
incurable often find solace here.
S.I.A.W.H.S
is established in the holy memory of Dharmatma Tatya JI Maharaj to
whom the knowledge of AYURVEDA came by intution.
At
S.I.A.W.H.S
the Ayurvedic Panchkarma treatment is performed in strict accordance with
the ancient scriptures and classical tradition and fresh herbal raw
materials often collected growing wild. Special copper vessels are used
for mixing heating and blending of herbal oils and other recepies.
S.I.A.W.H.S is also engaged in developing Herbgardens (Dhanvantri Udyans) whereby
rare Ayurvedic herbs are being grown in the healthy Agnihotra atmosphere.
Be sure by associating with our activity you are lending a helping hand
towards alleviating the pain of the needy poor and propagation of this age
old planetary science of health.
PANCHAKARMA
Indicated for both healthy individuals and diseased , as a means of
maintaining the equilibrium of mind body and eradicating the toxic
substances accumalated in the body, Panchkarmas are regarded as an
exclusive treatment of Ayurvedic tradition. Due to the nature of modern
life style, food habits, diseases etc. invariably our body becomes dumping
grounds of unlimited toxoc and waste substances.
By means of the Panchakarm procedures the toxins lodged even
at the lower layer of the body are flushed out and eliminated.These
treatments often bring out the deep rooted origins of diseases to the
surface level where they can be treated and cured.
The participants are examined by our resident Vaidyas by means of pulse
Diagnosis (Nadi chikista) and other modern diagnostic aids. By undergoing
massage (Abhynga) using specific herbal oils and steam bath (Svedana)
using herbal and Aroma therapy steams they are prepared for more
complicated classical procedures. Emesis (Vamana), purgation ( Virechana)
and Vasthy are given as per individual needs. Vasthy is an effective
treatment for complaints like arthritis, paralysis, numbness in muscles
and joints sinusitis, digestive complaints etc. Nasyam is regarded
as a purificatory method for elimination of the vitiated Kapha from the
skull region. It is effective in paralysis, insomnia, mental disorders and
just for relaxation. It helps stop falling hair and enhances
vision. Apart
from widely used common panchakarma treatments at our facility in
S.I.A.W.H.S
some highly special traditional procedures are performed. Some of these
are Sirovasthy, Taila/ Takra, Navara, Kizhi etc.
PATRA POTALI ( Pachakizhi ) : In Pachakizhi special fresh leaves of
medicinal herbs are made in to boluses and heated. They are massaged on
the patient's body.
NAVARA KIZHI: Navara Kizhi is also one of the special forms of
treatment widely practiced in Kerala (South India). The body is made
to prespire well through medicated massage puddings in the forms of
boluses tied up in cloth bags. Specially cooked rice tied up in boluses
are warmed in mixture of medicated Kasayam and cows milk and
massaged over the body with adequate pressure and movements as required by
the patient. The pressure forces out the contents of boluses. The boluses
are rewarmed and applied again and again till the Kasaya and contents of
the boluses would have been entirely used up.
FACILITIES: We are making all our efforts of offering a blend of
excellent AYURVEDIC diagnostic treatment as per individual
requirment with genuine Ayurvedic oils and recepies. Simple, clean and
comfortable twin sharing rooms and special rooms with Satvik diet are
provided. The day begins with early morning Vyharuti Homa and chanting of
Gayatri Mantra followed by brisk nature walk in fresh air and solar salute
(soorya Namaskar) . Exactly at sunrise and sunset Agnihotra will be
performed in he Yoga hall. Morning and evening walks with the Vaidyas will
be normally much educative as you will be introduced to a number a
medi-cinal plants growing wild. In the afternoon lectures, slide shows,
films on various aspects of AYURVEDA, Herbal cosmetology,
Vegetarian
cooking, Yoga etc. will be conducted. Classical Indian music will be
the attraction on some evenings.
